TrondheimSolistene and Nidarosdomens Jentekor visit Skatval church
- Lars Eggen
Opera Trøndelag is one of the organisers when TrondheimSolistene and Nidarosdomens Jentekor visit Skatval Church on Saturday 5 December. They will also be joined by mezzo-soprano Astrid Nordstad.
In 2020, the Nidaros Cathedral Girls« Choir and the Trondheim Soloists will for the first time bring »Christmas Joy" from the national sanctuary (Nidaros Cathedral) to audiences in central Norway. With three unique concerts in Skatval Church in Stjørdal and elsewhere, the performers, together with mezzo-soprano Astrid Nordstad, will deliver a programme ranging from well-known and beloved Christmas carols, but also many new ones - everything from powerful and grand, to quiet and poignant. There will also be sing-alongs.
Nordstad is one of the choir's former singers. She made her debut at the Norwegian Opera in 2019, and is one of the country's greatest talents in classical song. Nordstad has also sung with Opera Trøndelag before, including in Olav Engelbrektson.
In 2020, Nidarosdomens jentekor and TrondheimSolistenes« release »LUX« received the GRAMMY Award in the USA. This is the first time an album with a Norwegian choir and orchestra received this award. Their album »MAGNIFICAT" also received a GRAMMY nomination in 2014.
