Theme: What is the future of opera?
Ringve Academy is a three-day intensive course designed to develop and recruit young singing talent. Parts of the course are open to the public, such as masterclasses, lectures and panel debates in collaboration with Opera Trøndelag, Friends of Opera Trøndelag, NTNU and Ringve Music Museum.
MASTERCLASS
Friday 28 October 16.00 - 19.00, Konsertsalen
Ringve Academy's masterclass takes place in the "main hall" at Ringve. Students from NTNU work with different expressions, mainly from the opera literature. Conductor Peter Szilvay leads the Masterclass. Peter Szilvay trained as a viola player and conductor at the Norwegian Academy of Music and is a central figure in Norwegian musical life. In 1996, Peter had his baptism of fire as a conductor with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, at the end of his diploma programme at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He was a conducting scholarship holder with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra from 1998 to 2000 and won the Norwegian conducting competition "Conductor of the Year" in 1999.
Singing teachers Carsten Stabell and Hilde Gjermundsen are joined by pianist Knut Erik Jensen from the Department of Music at NTNU.
WHAT IS THE OPERA OF THE FUTURE?

Ringve Academy's professional lectures are held by Hedvig Jalhed.
Hedvig Jalhed is a Swedish opera singer and researcher. She trained at the Stockholm Opera School and has sung with a number of different orchestras. Jalhed researcher and gives lectures with musical elements where she lets the audience become part of the performance - "the opera of the future, an interactive opera". The lecture is part of the her doctoral thesis. In addition, she runs artistic music drama projects as head of Operation Opera.
