At the beginning of 2000 there was extra pressure from children and young people to be on stage in the opera Olav Engelbrektsson. With this in mind, the Opera School was founded in 2001 with the aim of making high quality performing arts available to children and young people and at the same time motivating them to take further steps in the field.
The opera school offers in musical theatre for the 10-18 age group, where interaction and stage discipline are essential. All rehearsals take place together. The rehearsals lead up to specific performances. Rehearsals are held once a week during the school year, as well as more intensive rehearsals leading up to performances. The opera school is a hotbed where musical theatre is practised in joy and community.
Senior Academy is for high school students over the age of 15. The seniors have been on stage since the age of 10 and represent important expertise for Opera Trøndelag's productions. Several of them have distinguished themselves as good soloists and performing artists. The seniors also have their own programme. The Opera School's activities provide important synergies for the region. Several of the students have gone on to higher education in classical singing and are pursuing opera and musical theatre as a career.
It was through the opera school that I was introduced to opera and it was because of the the possibilities that I decided that opera was something I wanted to pursue.
The opera school gave me an opportunity to get to know myself and others, both musical and personalised.
The opera school gave me everything I needed: good instructors who See allsomeone to look up to for inspiration and motivation, experience of being on stage in larger productions, collaborating with professional singers and musicians, and not least; finding a enormous pleasure in the wonderful world of music!
I was first an extra in the opera Olav Engelbrektsson and it was such a magical experience that I enrolled in the opera school right away! The opera school has helped to define many of the choices I've made in my life and also helped to shape who I am today. I am so happy that there is such a programme for children and young people that helps to promoting music, culture, collaboration and personal growth.
The opera school was the place where I got to know music and got try me on a stage. It gave me a fantastic group of friends, many of whom have gone on to become professionals in opera and music. It is fantastic arena for those who want to pursue a career in music, but also for those of us who want a good activity and learning arena in our spare time.
Through the opera school, I got to stand on a stage with professional singers and I connected close friendships to the other students. It was a fun and challenging leisure activity that moulded my childhood and adolescence and who taught me many things that I have taken with me further in life.

The opera school introduced me to a art form I wouldn't otherwise have had access to, and when I met professional opera singers through concerts and productions with the Opera School, I was completely captivated by opera. Here I also met many friends and we have stayed together to this day. It was a good environment where we cheered each other on and felt like we were a team.
The opera school introduced me to a whole new world of singing, music and performing arts. I am eternally grateful for the opera school that gave me experiences and lessons learnt I can take with me for the rest of my life.
At the Opera School, I got stage discipline, and taught me how to behaves professionally on, behind and around the stage. That, and the scenic foundation the Opera School gave me, follows me every day as an opera singer and performer.
